Logging a Test

Logging a test records the details and outcome of a drug or alcohol test for an employee.

How to Log a Test

  1. Go to Tests and click Log Test, or click Log Test from a selection detail page
  2. Fill in the test details:

Required Fields

  • Employee — search and select the employee being tested
  • Test Type — the type of test performed (e.g., Urine Drug Screen, Breath Alcohol)
  • Status — the current status of the test:
StatusMeaning
CompletedTest was performed and a result is available
PendingTest was performed but results are not yet back
RefusedEmployee refused to take the test
Not FoundEmployee could not be located for testing
DeferredTest was postponed
  • Result (if status is Completed) — Negative, Positive, etc.
  • Date/Time — when the test was performed

Optional Fields

  • Notes — any additional information about the test
  • Selection Event — link the test to a selection event (auto-filled if logging from a selection)

Evidence Capture

FairTest captures comprehensive evidence with each test:

  • GPS Location — automatically captured from your device and reverse geocoded to show the address
  • Result Photos — drag and drop or select photos of the test result (multiple allowed)
  • ID Photos — photos of the employee's identification
  • Signature — capture the employee's signature using the on-screen signature pad (touch-supported)
  1. Click Save

What Happens After Logging

  • The test is recorded and appears in the Tests list
  • An audit log entry is created
  • If the result is Positive and notifications are enabled, relevant team members and the employee's manager are notified by email
  • If linked to a selection, the test appears on the selection detail page

Logging on Mobile

The mobile app supports the full test logging workflow including GPS, photos, and signature capture. This is the recommended way for testers working in the field.
