Manual Pool Selection

In addition to random selections, FairTest allows you to manually select specific employees for testing. This is useful for reasonable cause, post-incident, or return-to-duty testing.

How to Create a Manual Selection​

  1. Go to Selections
  2. Click New Selection
  3. Choose Manual Selection
  4. Search for and add specific employees to the pool
  5. Click Create Selection

OCR Camera Scanning​

On mobile, you can use the camera scanner to quickly add employees to a manual selection:

  1. Point your camera at an employee ID card or badge
  2. FairTest uses OCR (optical character recognition) to read the employee details
  3. Matched employees are added to the selection pool automatically

This is especially useful for on-site testing where you need to process multiple employees quickly.

When to Use Manual Selection​

  • Reasonable cause — when there's reason to believe an employee may be impaired
  • Post-incident — testing after a workplace incident
  • Return-to-duty — testing before an employee returns after a positive result
  • Blanket testing — testing all employees at a specific site or event
